BASE-90  & BASE-60

The BASE-90 class is based on the original hot yoga sequence of Bikram Yoga which is a 26 posture and 2 breathing exercise sequence. It is conducted in a room heated to 40 degree Celsius.

These 26 postures systematically work every part of the body, to give all the internal organs, all the ligaments, all the tendons and all the muscles everything they need to maintain optimum health and maximum function. Every posture is done twice, opening the body in the first set and then potentially aiming for depth in the second set. Each posture is done with precision in mind, working to maintain the correct alignment of the body. You achieve this by working on both strength and flexibility in every posture. We work from the bones to the skin, starting with the skeleton and then hoping to maintain the natural range of motion of all the joints and soft tissue.

However, because at Hot Yoga Athlone we endeavour to teach the class in front of us, sometimes postures are modified or changed to help certain injuries and conditions. Our motto is ‘Yoga is for every body but we bend it for you’.

The BASE-60 is a shorter version of the BASE-90 where some postures are only done one set.

Both of these classes are suitable for all levels as everyone works at their own pace and are the best classes for first timers and beginners

FAST 60

FAST-60 is a 60 minute hot yoga class that is a fantastic complement to the BASE-60 and BASE-90 classes.

It involves some familiar postures from the BASE classes along with some new ones. Introducing some upper body work and hip openers.

This is the next class to attempt after the BASE classes. There is an expectation that you are familiar with the basic set up of postures, so this class is not suitable for beginners. Ideally attend 5-10 BASE-60 or BASE-90 classes before attempting this one.

VITAL 75

VITAL-75 is a 75 minute hot yoga class using some postures from the BASE  and FAST60 classes as well as a lot of new ones. We introduce even more hip openers, arm and upper body strengthening.

With an intense standing series we slow down when we with get to the floor with a concentrated hip opening sequence. Tight hips can be the cause of a lot of lower back pain.

Having started with the BASE classes, attend 5 FAST60 classes before attempting this one.

MIX 90

MIX-90 is a 90 minute hot yoga class using some postures from the BASE-90 class with most of the postures from the FAST-60 and VITAL-75 as well as a few new surprises. More hip openers. arm and upper body strengthening.

An introduction to arm and forearm balancing. A dynamic energetic class with over 60 postures and the opportunity to try variations within a lot of postures. It is not suitable for first timers or beginners. I lovingly call this class ‘the Beast’. So take your time before deciding to attend this one.

WHY THE HEAT?

Yoga changes the construction of the body from inside out, from bones to skin and from fingertips to toes. So, before you change it, you have to heat it up to soften it, because a warm body is a flexible body. Then you can reshape the body anyway you want.

Hatha Yoga flushes away the waste products and the toxins of all the glands and organs of your body. It provides a natural irrigation of the body through the circulatory system, with the help of the respiratory system. It brings nourishment to every cell of your body so that each one can perform its function and keep your body healthy. Hot yoga also employs heat to further that cleaning process—When you sweat, impurities are flushed out of the body through the skin.

Practicing yoga not only increases our supplies of oxygen, but it also teaches us how to use that oxygen properly—we learn to control the breath through pranayama.

Code of Practice. Tricia and all the teachers at Hot Yoga Athlone endeavour to ensure the highest standards of practice in class which includes constant instruction and correction. This extends to the overall running of the studio and all its facilities. Classes will always run on time. All teachers at Hot Yoga Athlone have been trained and certified.
